Welcome to the Bytowne Urban Gardens
Bytowne Urban Gardens (BUGs) is a not-for-profit, Ottawa based community garden organization that was formed to promote sustainable food production. For many years, we proudly grew our community garden at Metcalfe and Catherine Street, also known as Beaver Barracks. With the help of our community parterns, we are establishing a new garden in the Glebe Memorial Park during the Spring of 2010.
Further to the actual community garden, BUGs also organizes a number of workshops and events throughout the year, and has forged great relationships with community organizations like the Centretown Community Health Centre, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and the YMCA. BUGS is also a member of the Ottawa Community Garden Network.
Although there is no charge for a plot at BUGs, volunteers must perform 16 hours per season towards gardening tasks. Please see the "How BUGs Works" section to learn more about how you can be a part of BUGS.
To read more about BUGS and it's history, please see the About Us section.
